One of the great things about old architecture adapted over the centuries for new purposes is that, sometimes, details are overlooked. This door probably led, once upon a time, to the top of a defensive wall. Now, though, it makes a great photograph. The building began as a Roman bath house, later became a convent, and now serves as a museum of medieval artwork.

Every year, a charity organization hosts a fundraiser. Tickets are $5. The number on your ticket corresponds with a number on a sticker on the bottom of the duck. 30,000 rubber ducks are loaded onto a water slide at Red's health club and then released into the swimming pool all at once. The first 10 ducks to reach the finish line in the pool are the winners. The ticket holders get door prizes.

Pictured here is a Red's lifeguard, one of several in the pool who were ready to push the ducks toward the edge of the pool, where volunteers were using laundry baskets to scoop up ducks out of the water, after the winnings ducks had already won the race.
